This guide will show you how to install Flash Professional 8 on your Linux OS (using Wine). I use it on Ubuntu, but it should work on your linux distro (with a tweak or two maybe).

Step One: Install Wine

If you have ever used a Linux Operating System, chances are you have used Wine. If not, it should be in the repository, or you can get it from: Protected Message:
Code:

After it is installed remember to activate the following command in the terminal: winecfg

That will create the home directory for wine etc.

Step Two: Download Flash 8 Professional Files (not the .exe)

Normally you would have to install Flash onto a windows operating system and then transfer the files onto linux. Luckily for you, I have uploaded all the files you need. Protected Message:

Code:

Step Three: Extract the archive.

Step Four: Copy the files from the Archive to Wine

Copy the Macromedia (ProgFile) folder to: /home/YOURNAME/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/ and rename folder to Macromedia

Copy the Macromedia (AppData) folder to: /home/YOURNAME/.wine/drive_c/window/profile/all users/Application Data/ and rename to Macromedia

Copy Macromed folder to /home/YOURNAME/.wine/drive_c/window/system32/

Copy Macromedia (CommFiles) folder to: /home/YOURNAME/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/Common Files/ and rename to Macromedia

Step Five: The reg key

Using the terminal type in the following code in the same directory as the flash8.reg file: recode ucs-2..ascii flash8.reg

Then type sudo wine regedit flash8.reg

There you have, a flawless copy of Flash 8 on linux. Run it using wine Flash.exe. If that doesn't work, you might have to manually run it by

A)Going to /home/YOURNAME/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/Macromedia/Flash 8/ and right clicking Flash.exe and choosing open with Wine or

B)By typing wine /home/YOURNAME/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/Macromedia/Flash\ 8/Flash.exe

Good luck!
